Georgian architecture and culture have a long history. Throughout Georgia, there are many monuments of different periods, distinguished by high artistic and historical importance. The “Gvtaeba” church and its surroundings preserve the history of Georgian architecture. The church belongs to a Georgian nobleman the "Korchibashishvili” family and was a part of the fortress occupied by the so-called "Divine Hill", which is located in the central part of the city. The building belongs to the 5th-6th centuries it has changed its face as a result of numerous renovations. Today it is Holy Mary functioning Church.
