The architectural complex of "Batoni’s Castle" is located in the so-called "Akhali Telavi" (new Telavi) - on the right side of the Telavi riverside (gorge) located east of "Old Telavi". It was built by the kings of Kakheti - King Archil II (1667-1675) and King Erekle II in the second half of the 18th century. The 17th-18th century royal palace located on the territory of "Batoni Fortress" is the only surviving palace in Georgia.
